Sweet Spa Party

When my adorable step-daughter turned 12 recently, I knew I wanted to do something special for her birthday! With her input, we decided on a Spa Party for her and several of her best friends! She chose the colors {aqua and brown} and we added lots of fun details to make this a truly sweet day!

The decor and colors were inspired by a book of Martha Stewart scrapbook papers I found at the craft store. Lots of colorful stripes and circles.

Each place setting included a bowl that would later be filled with warm water and bath salts for a hand soak and a rolled wash cloth {brown or blue}, tied with ribbon and embellished with a cupcake topper (also Martha Stewart).

Our local party store had lots of fun, colorful gumballs and candies that worked perfectly with the scrapbook papers I used throughout the decor....and huge whirly pops added some playfulness.

I took the Birthday Girl shopping at Target to pick up lip gloss, eye-shadows, nail polish, assorted make-up and blush brushes. We found the elf products were so cute and also super inexpensive so we were able to stock up! And we had a blast shopping together!

We also purchased some face masks and creams {not pictured} that I set up in the powder room so the girls could do facials and try out different scented soaps and lotions!

Candy as filler for these glass vases are perfect for holding lip gloss, eye-liner and brushes upright

{I was so happy with some of the elf products, I actually still use the eye-liner and lip gloss}

Who needs cupcakes when we have these yummy frosting shots?
A buffet table with fun lotions and potions, extra hand towels, mani and pedi supplies and mirror compacts for each girl....

I used a cupcake stand from Target that I already had, to display these little rose-shaped bath soaps. The girls each used one in their mani soaks. I found these at JoAnn's in the dollar section.

This cake is made of hand towels, and strips of scrapbook paper.

Wash-cloth cupcakes = a super easy DIY favor that fit perfectly with our theme! Just tuck a lollipop into the middle as the "cherry" on top!

The "lounge": strawberries & chocolate sauce {this was gone FAST}, plus
a bunch of fun "tween" magazines on the coffee table.....

Needless to say, the girls had a blast! Really, I wished I could be a teenager again just to have a fun spa sleepover like this! :)

We served: cheese fondue with baguette chunks, pizza, assorted drinks, veggies and fruits, assorted Hostess junk food (yummy!), I can't even remember what else! We let the birthday girl go to the store with her dad with a friend and pick out everything they wanted. They even decorated this home-made cake by themselves by making fondant make-up and things:

Cuter and more SPECIAL than any cake we could have purchased at a fancy bakery! LOL

The activities included the manicure station, a pedicure station and lots of fun facial stuff {this was the funnest and messiest part ~ the girls couldn't stop laughing! It was kind of gross, but super fun! Mashed avocados and yogurt EVERYWHERE!}

I even got a real pedicure in honor of the birthday girl ~ in blue, of course!!!

Wow, it makes me smile just thinking about all of the fun we had and what a great bonding experience this was for us! :)

  3. I love the color combination of aqua and brown. It looks very fancy and refreshing. Placing aqua-colored bath soaps in a cupcake stand is also a nice touch. It looks like a bouquet of flowers from a fairy tale. Come to think of it, the whole package was a feast to the eye. Great job, Angela!
